History
The BALLITO DOLPHINS RUGBY CLUB was founded in 2001 by a group of local rugby players. Johan Lombaard formed the club and put together a team that quickly progressed through the lower divisions. A record-breaking unbeaten run of wins ended in the division where they currently compete, the KZNRU 1st Division. Although short, there is a very proud rugby history at the Dolphins. Our 1st and 2nd XV teams have been competing in the 1st Division of the KZN Rugby Union competition since 2007 and have shown that they are no push-over “surfer” side throughout the years.

The Club’s vision is to bring top-level rugby to the North Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal. As part of our commitment, we have established a development program over and above our junior and senior programs. Players are transported from Stanger and the surrounding areas of Ballito to practices twice a week and are included in all the club’s fixtures and events.

This has led to some fantastic talent being discovered. Due to an aggressive development program over the past few years, there has been a significant increase in the number of previously disadvantaged players, mainly from the outlying townships, who are selected purely on merit to represent the club at the 1st division level.

Over the years the club has grown in stature due to strong management and an unwavering commitment from its players and supporters. With players being selected to represent the Durban Rugby Sub Union and Wildebeest XV respectively, the club has become a true force within the first Division of KZNRU and is building towards progressing into the province’s premier league division.

We pride ourselves on being driven by our community and game days are well attended. We are in the fortunate position of having many well-known ex-natal and ex-springbok players, such as AJ Venter, Craig Jamieson, Adrian Garvey, and Gary Teichmann lending their expertise to the growing club. A solid platform for any club to be on and one that allows the club to go from strength to strength each season.

History
Our goal as a club is to get promoted to, and be competitive in, the Premier Division. We wish to become the most recognised Rugby Club on the North Coast both through performance results as well as our commitment to the development of the game within the local and surrounding communities. The club finishes in the top places consistently every year meaning it is only a matter of time before this young club bursts through to the Premier Division and competes for top honors.

With Good relations throughout our own league and the various unions, we strive to better our club each season and to provide the best social and playing experience for our players, sponsors, and supporters.
